Latest in the market, ROYAL alpha583cx Heavy Duty Cash Register is one of the best of its types. It is programmed in a way to hold details around each department of the store with its name and description that can be maximum 12 characters long. Using this 12 character name or description it can identify each item, known as PLU in retail terminology. Whenever any PLU is scanned at the till, it performs a look up in its database which can hold up to 1000 prices. The result of the look up provides the price for that particular item which is displayed on its screen and added in the transaction. It has two displays, one for the store operator and another for the customer to view the item details that is being scanned along with the price information. It has the capability to report the complete sales activity for each of these PLUs.
For my business, I was using 425x Royal cash register in the store for tracking store transactions. All the employees were comfortable to use this device, so when it wore out we decided to go with the latest model of royal cash register as I got to learn that it uses paper sales receipt for the store transactions. I was amazed to see the efficient and fast functioning of this device. I also got a great feedback from the store employees that it is indeed better than the prior version. Its accounting features are brilliant and the accountant says there are no computation errors.
Royal cash register has an optional handheld barcode scanner that connects using an integrated serial connection. It is brilliantly programmed to display five different text messages, each with a character limit of 42 characters, which scrolls in front of customers at various time intervals.
Conclusion Of Royal Cash Register
Overall, I and my staff are satisfied with this electronic device and it fulfils all the requirements. Although batter backup is not as great as expected and it starts dieing after a usage of a year or two, it is simple to operate and programmed brilliantly. As we can clearly see that the pros outweigh the cons, I would definitely recommend this smart Royal Cash register to all the store managers as its worth each and every penny that you spend on the device.
What one Owner had to say:
I’ve had this register for just over 3 years and it just froze up yesterday. I’m assuming it had something to do with me replacing the batteries but I can’t be sure. It worked really well for the first 2 years, then the power went out and the backup batteries only store the information for about an hour or so then it dumped ALL my data. So, back to square one… had to re-program it all over again, quite the hassle. I’m now going to purchase a register that has some sort of backup system that does not require batteries. Oh, and this register is super loud… when I was ringing stuff up, I couldn’t hear my customers talk to me! I’ll be sure to rate the next register I buy!
